This project holds a special place in my portfolio as it was my first real introduction to the world of software development. During a one-week internship at Systematic in elementary school, I was tasked with building a web-based board game.
The core concept of "The Mini Puzzle Game" was to move various food items like fruits, vegetables, and pizza slices around a grid to create specific scoring patterns.
I built the game using Angular, a modern web framework that is heavily utilized at Systematic.
Rather than just throwing me into the deep end, the assignment was structured to mirror real-world software engineering. I was given a set of customer requirements that built upon each other logically. This allowed me to develop the application iteratively, adding one feature at a time exactly how I approach complex Software Engineering projects today.
Beyond the code itself, this internship was my first exposure to a professional tech environment. I had the opportunity to participate in actual:
I absolutely fell in love with this way of working. The combination of logical problem-solving, structured teamwork, and the satisfaction of building a working product is what solidified my decision to pursue a career in software development.
